The River School

Marcia Salim: Marcia, the founder of The River School, is an artist, gallery owner and Michigan-certified K-8 teacher, with an endorsement in the sciences. European travels from an early age influenced Marcia's interest in classic arts and languages. Later travels to Africa and South America gave her a deep appreciation for global cultures. She will be teaching numerous classes this summer ranging from arts to language and culture. See our Summer Classes page for more details.

Brentoni Gainer-Salim: Brent is currently a senior at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He returned to Michigan after spending three semesters studying in Paris, France, at the American University of Paris. He studies Political Science and Philosophy, but is also interested in journalism. He founded the Imagineer Magazine with friend Alex Farris in 2009, and currently works for Michigan Radio, in Ann Arbor. This summer, he will be teaching French for Beginners II, Creative Writing and Astronomy, with other possible additions to come.

Mona Reiserer: Mona is currently a senior undergraduate at the American University of Paris, in Paris, France. She is one of seven students at the university to receive highest scholarship honors. Mona studies Comparative Literature and Philosophy. Austrian by birth, she speaks German, and beyond that she is fluent in both French and in English, having attended American international schools for many years. She will be teaching German for Beginners, French for Beginners II and Astronomy, this summer.
